Kenyan Anti-Counterfeiting Authority publishes HS codes goods requiring ACA import permit application

Published Date: January 16, 2023

In earlier announcement, the Kenyan Anti-Counterfeiting Authority (ACA) announced that, as of 1 January 2023, it would be an offence to import goods bearing IP into Kenya where the trademark owner has not recorded the IP rights with the ACA. In December 2022 and in line with its proposed phased approach, the ACA published a list of HS codes for goods which have been categorized under phase one of the implementation process and now require ACA import permit application starting 1 January 2023.  The HS codes cover electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles.
