At the vacation programme candidates will be assigned to teams where they will work closely with the partner and be assigned work that a first year CA would be expected to manage with the partner’s guidance.

HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR CHANCES OF BEING SELECTED:

At Adams & Adams, applications are reviewed by HR and by the partners on the Graduate Recruitment Committee. When applying, understand that you are already engaging with your future employer and supervisor.

Spending time going through the firm’s website is important as it gives you a sense of who we are before submitting your application.

We understand that you apply to more than one law firm, but we encourage you to avoid making your motivational letter too generic while trying to save time and inadvertently wasting an opportunity. Your motivational letter must be written in a formal business letter format and should be tailored to Adams & Adams.

The general rule of thumb for applying anywhere is that you must do what you can to give the employer the best view of who you are. You do this by:

  • ensuring that all the information on your CV is factually accurate
  • checking your application for grammatical errors and correcting them before submitting your application
  • when using abbreviations writing the name of the organization out in full before using an abbreviation e.g., South Africa (SA)
  • looking out for gaps which an employer may wonder about and build the missing information into your motivational letter
  • and by asking an objective person with the know-how to check your application before sending it to your potential future employer.
