ANTI-COUNTERFEIT AUTHORITY IMPLEMENTS NEW STRATEGY

The Anti-Counterfeit Authority of Kenya launched its third strategic plan amidst also celebrating its re-certification of ISO standards related to Quality Management Systems Certification. This effort in attaining the re-certification was widely lauded as an ongoing commitment by the Authority to provide the best service for customers and continual improvement.

The strategy itself highlighted the need to enforce intellectual property (IP) rights and ensure that infringements are addressed as trade in counterfeit goods can have a far-reaching detrimental effect on the economy and undermines the government’s effort to attract more trade. The strategy plans to deal with this by identifying and combatting key constraints in the battle against piracy and the illicit trade of goods.
